Summary This thesis studies the optimal choice of pension system in Palestine. The Palestinian economy is characterized by a very low level of social protection and a high poverty rate. The first chapter presents an analysis of the demographic, social and economic environment in Palestine. The second chapter provides a review of the literature on social protection systems. The third chapter analyzes the rate of access to the social protection system as a function of different socio-economic s characteristics. The fourth chapter presents an econometric analysis of the decision to participate in the pension system. The fifth chapter, using the PROST model (World Bank), proposes a prospective analysis of the pension system in Palestine. The prospective study determines the appropriate contribution rate according to several unemployment scenarios and its impact on the balance of the pension system taking into account the specific situation of women in Palestine.
