Summary The effectiveness of public action is a growing concern for the authorities, who are increasingly calling on the results of economic science research. The contribution of this research to the development of public policies lies in its ability to analyze and understand the way in which economic actors react to changes in the environment in which they make their decisions. This reasoning is based on strong behavioral hypotheses, which are the subject of a new stream of research, behavioral economics, which combines psychology and economics in order to refine our understanding of the determinants of decisions. This book provides an overview of the contributions of this new trend to the definition and evaluation of public policies. It describes new intervention tools, such as nudges, while highlighting the relevance of traditional intervention tools. It proposes an application in health economics, savings and retirement choices, environmental policy and labor market regulation.
