Integrating quantitative and qualitative findings in political economy: an illustration of four approaches.

Summary The article sheds light on four modalities of integration of qualitative and quantitative results in political science. They are applied to different configurations, but each time the aim is to answer the same research question. These different approaches are illustrated using examples drawn from the political economy literature, dealing respectively with unionization in advanced capitalist democracies, economic voting, regulation of the pharmaceutical sector and financial regulation.
