What is discriminating in a resume? Lessons from experimental research.

Summary The widespread use of CVs to apply for jobs has led to the development of experimental research (known as correspondence studies or testing), which is based on targeted manipulation of the profile of candidates in fictitious CVs sent by researchers in response to job offers. Two recent meta-analyses (1 and 2) show that discrimination is significant regardless of the country or minority group studied, but the phenomenon is particularly widespread in Europe. Studies conducted in France to measure discrimination against applicants of North African or sub-Saharan African origin show exceptionally high levels. [First paragraph].
