Summary Coopetition is a concept in management sciences (especially in strategy), which originally describes situations where organizations (companies, associations...) are both cooperating and competing, as paradoxical as it may seem. A recent article in The Conversation highlights the potential role of coopetition in evolution, pointing out that it can be found both in the animal world (to explain the evolution of species) and in companies and organizations. We would like to bring a complementary perspective by underlining that coopetition can be observed at the level of relationships between individuals, which opens a large field of potential applications.
