Summary In this paper, we present a synthesis of the results of the study "Nuclear and Renewable Energy: Systemic Effects in Low-Carbon Power Systems" recently published by the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency. This study analyzes the interactions between programmable technologies and variable renewables (mainly wind and solar), presents the main effects of these interactions on the power system and provides systematic empirical estimates of the associated costs for six OECD member countries.
