For the first time, a panel of four experts will assist the French Ministry of the Economy and Finance in preparing the 2027 budget.
The Institut Louis Bachelier is proud to acknowledge the appointment of Natacha Valla to the independent expert mission tasked with analysing the outlook for French public finances between 2027 and 2030.
Announced by the French government, the mission brings together several leading economists — Xavier Jaravel, Xavier Ragot and Jean-Luc Tavernier — to provide an independent assessment of France’s fiscal trajectory and propose scenarios for restoring public finances. Their conclusions, expected in July, will contribute to the preparation of the 2027 Finance Bill.
Natacha Valla will bring her recognised expertise in macroeconomic, financial and European affairs. Dean of the School of Management and Impact at Sciences Po, she has held strategic positions at the European Central Bank, the European Investment Bank and the French Council of Economic Analysis. Her work regularly contributes to major European debates on economic and monetary policy.
A member of the Institut Louis Bachelier’s Board of Directors and Vice-Chair of the PARC Foundation (Paris Agreement Research Commons), Natacha Valla plays an active role in the institution’s strategic reflections and in promoting independent research on sustainable finance and economic transition.
Her appointment highlights the growing importance of bridges between academic research and public policymaking — a conviction that lies at the heart of the Institut Louis Bachelier’s mission.
We warmly congratulate Natacha Valla on this appointment.
