Quick description

The Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (Dutch: Planbureau voor de Leefomgeving – abbr. PBL) is a Dutch research institute that advises the Dutch government on environmental policy and regional planning issues. The research fields include sustainable development, energy and climate change, biodiversity, transport, land use, and air quality. The PBL was created on 2008, by merging the Netherlands Environmental Agency (MNP) with the Netherlands Institute for Spatial Research (RPB).

  • IMAGE data viewer a visualisation tool to view SSP IMAGE scenario data
  • Spatial data global land use maps based on the SSP storylines
  • IAMC database IMAGE scenario results and other Integrated Assessment Models
  • HYDE data history database of the Global Environment, a combination of updated historical population (gridded) estimates and land use for the past 12,000 years.
  • Renewable energy data solar, wind, bio-energy and hydropower energy potentials
