Climate Policy Initiative

Quick description

Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) is an independent non-profit research group and international climate policy organization based in San Francisco, California with other offices worldwide. CPI is supported primarily by philanthropic organizations and government development finance.

It is a climate think tank with over 100 analysts and advisors working on improving energy and land use policies around the world, with a particular focus on finance. It is considered a leader expert group in tracking global climate finance. Beginning with the Landscape of Climate Finance (2011), CPI has published a series of annual reports which examine both public and private financial flows worldwide.

CPI developped a Net Zero Finance Tracker. It focuses on sources of finance for the low-carbon transition. It tracks institutions’ efforts to make investments and overall organizational practices consistent with the achievement of the Paris goals.
