CARTOGRAPHY OF ACTORS IN RESEARCH IN SUSTAINABLE FINANCE

The French Research Map on Green and Sustainable Finance is a digital map provided by Finance for Tomorrow and the Louis Bachelier Institute, in collaboration with FIR (Forum for Responsible Investment). The project aims to enhance the quality of the French ecosystem of research in green and sustainable finance and make it more accessible to finance professionals, researchers and students.

Financing the fight against climate change and redirecting financial flows is a huge and complex challenge. Economic, financial and public actors have the capacity to direct capital to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. They must be able to rely on research in high quality finance for exploring the consequences of financial choices, testing innovative tools and developing concrete solutions.

Finance For Tomorrow places research at the heart of its activity, which aims to make green and sustainable finance the engine of development and attractiveness for the Paris stock exchange. The ILB has initiated  a major interdisciplinary programme of research in green and sustainable finance, the aim of which is to stimulate researchers, pool research efforts, increase financial resources and expand the recipients of this work.

This map should allow better identification in all institutions and their projects, and also shed light on the issues and their possible solutions. By promoting these activities, Finance for Tomorrow and ILB seek to increase opportunities for collaboration between professionals and researchers. It is essential that their links are strengthened so that companies are able to identify work that could meet their needs and be involved in the development of research projects. This digital map is a collaborative tool: everyone can propose modifications or contributions for supplementing it. All stakeholders can thus participate in the development of research in green and sustainable finance in France and join a dynamic ecosystem able to meet the challenges of tomorrow’s finance. The map was launched for the Green Finance Research Advances event on 27 November 2018 co-organized by the Banque de France and the ILB, in partnership with I4CE and Finance for Tomorrow.
