The demographic and economic transitions Forum is the first annual forum of the Chair in the general area of post aging-economy.
This international research forum will co-locate four economics workshops for academics and professionals and three conferences with the aims to bridge the gap between researchers and the civil society (politics, professionals, etc.) to enhance the understanding of the socio-economic mutations that aging societies.
The theme of this 1st international forum is "demographic transitions and growth opportunities". First, aging is often seen as a burden for economic growth although the relationship between aging and factor of growth such as health, education, productivity or saving is controversial. Second, as we move towards an aging world with an international competition for highly qualified workers, accumulation of human capital will be one of the keys factor of growth, therefore immigration, integration as educational policy would be strategic policy in the definition of the aging economic equilibrium. Third, the demographic transitions - an older population along with an increase of lifespan - and human migrations shatter the common view on the channels of savings and its impact on economic growth.
The aging economic growth path will also depend on innovation in savings products (retirement, life insurance, disability, remittances, etc.) as well as market efficiency.
